Just like his views, Kareem’s art works are also charged, strong, and electric. Though a self taught artist, his works are being viewed as apealing as most of professional artists. He works at the upsurge of emotions as he paints what his moods guide him to. No one theme or colour can bind him, so his works are categorized by diversity. Kareem Khan has been painting since last 37 years.
A deep melancholy hangs over his works. Like fine mist it envelops them in an invisible net that draws the onlooker into its lair like a gossamer web, almost forcing them to linger. The metaphors are urban, the inspirational mainstay emerging from imagery that is almost European in style and content. The paintings are inward looking and the onlooker a mere spectator to this inward journey. Kareem Khan’s paintings reflect the artist’s own composure and an embedded sense of spirituality. Quiet silence resounds in his paintings which are imbued with an inherent pathos. Does the art follow the artist or is it the other way round? It would be difficult to say – for there is no demarcation line as to where one begins and the other ends. “You can’t be very different from your work. Once or twice it may click but then your art will say nothing doing. Creativity owes a lot to melancholy. Goya defined himself by making melancholic works; the sensitive artist in him is quick to remind you.

Darshan Sharma :
A self taught Artist moulds his work on self chosen themes.
He weaves in reality and fantasy as per the requirement of each work. Love is
the basic human emotion. A loveless world would be a dark world. Artist creates
his paintings around this basic emotion. Togetherness, separation, pain and
reuniting are the situations all lovers go through. The separated beloved pines
for her lover to be with her. He is in her thoughts. In her dreams and desire.
His paintings visualize these modes of beloved’s existence imaginatively.
